This amazing Italian restaurant, only an average of 30 minutes in the car from Dublin has absolutely stunned us.
Food quality is top notch at it’s highest quality, some new tastes for us and experiences.
The place truly feels like you’ve just entered an amazing Italian restaurant, without any corner cuts in the dishes.
We’d like to add that nearly all dishes can be delivered Gluten free and vice versa, this is incredibly important and we really like this gesture!
We’ve been served by a super nice and welcoming waiter that wore a tie of Tony Montana from Scarface – hats off for that one! 🙂
So let’s get to it, Italian food!
Insalata Rucola E Parmigiano
Rocket Salad, Parmesan shaving, Cherry tomatoes and Pine nuts with Balsamic dressing.
This salad was absolutely delicious, do not mistake it for a normal cheese, because it had fantastic crunch to it that made this salad all the more unique with the pine nuts.
Alette Di Pollo Piccanti
Spicy chicken wings served with garlic dip.
Do not mistake these chicken wings for simple chicken wings, these had a LOT of meat on them and we’re one of our favorite starter choices!
On to the mains, we went for some pastas out of this world:
Agnolotti con Popla di Granchio
Home made pasta filled with crab meat – cooked in a Shrimps, Sage, Lemon zest and cream sauce.
Outstandingly tasty and really creamy:
For the last main dish, we chose to be a little adventurous as we’ve never had something like Black Pasta before.
It is also considered Mario’s staff favorite (As written on the menu, and from the waitresses response and recommendation).
Taglioni al Nero di Seppia
Mixed seafood cooked in olive oil, garlic, white wine and fresh cherry tomatoes served with black spaghetti pasta.
Scared as we were that it is made with octopus ink. We gave it a try!
And it has now become one of my favorite dishes, the pasta was amazing!(who knew octopus ink is that good eh?)
Prawns, Mussels and Calamari all cooked with extreme finesse and great ingredients, the sauce is ‘tomato’ but had a fantastic gentle sweet taste without taking away the juiciness of the seafood.
We finished our meal with an amazing dessert that wasn’t on the menu and ended up surprisingly sweet.
Profiteroles with Creamy melted chocolate on them and berries with a side of pistachio ice cream, great variety in just one dessert.
We take our hats off to Da Mario and the brilliant presentation, very tasty food and design.
Highly recommended and worth a visit – staff are highly trained and incredibly nice, do not skip this place!
We’ll be back to you Da Mario!
